What's the difference between "beg your pardon" and "pardon me"?

"Beg your pardon" is definitely more formal and polite in tone. It's not used as often as "pardon me," which sounds more natural and less formal. Ex: Beg your pardon? Could you please repeat that? Ex: Pardon me, I'm trying to get by.
