Can I say "both of us" instead of "either of us" here? What's the difference?

There would be a slight nuance between "both of us" and "either of us" in this sentence. "Both" indicates more of a mutual connection between them, whereas "either" indicates more of a separation. They're seen more as individuals rather than as a unit or team. Even so, in this particular sentence, if you wanted to use "both," I'd suggest using "we both" or just "we" instead of "both of us." Ex: Both of us dressed up for the party last night. It was so much fun! Ex: The exam was worse than either of us expected. = The exam was worse than we expected.
