There are two key differences between a "mood" and a "feeling/emotion". 1. Time A "mood" is a generalized emotional state that lasts much longer than a "feeling". A mood can last for minutes, hours or days depending on what caused it. A "feeling" is usually a momentary emotion that lasts a few seconds or minutes. 2. Awareness The source of a "feeling" is usually easy to identify because a "feeling" is stronger, lasts a short time and often has a direct cause. A "mood", on the other hand, is general and rarely has a very specific event as its cause. Ex: I've been in a bad mood all week, but I have a good feeling that relaxing today will help. Ex: It's nice to see you in a good mood.
