What is the difference between the verb "rock" and "dance"?

These verbs are slightly linked to each other! "Rock" comes from a genre and era of music in the 50s. From this era came a type of dance called "Rock and Roll". So the phrase "rock with me" references this music and dance style. It also implies a specific mood and energy that's associated with this music. Whereas "dance" could be any type of dance style! Ex: Rock n' roll music is my favourite to dance to. Ex: What kind of dancing do you do? Ex: All right, band. Let's rock tonight!
