Can I say "I'm curious" instead of "I wonder"?

Yes, you could! It would, however, imply a more direct question to the person, whereas "wonder" can mean that you may not be asking the person directly. You're just thinking about it. Ex: I'm curious, John... Do you still believe in love? Ex: I wonder if he has asked for professional advice yet.
