Thus, when you are holding someone to a standard, it means that you expect a certain standard (of behaviour, performance, or result) from that person. Ex: I don't feel stressed out by others. I feel stressed out because I hold myself to very high standards. Ex: When it comes to education, my parents held me to a very high standard.
