To "go too far" is an idiom that means someone has done something that is too extreme or behaves in a way that either upsets people or is not allowed. You can use this expression whenever something has been done which crosses the line of being acceptable and becomes unacceptable. Ex: He always teases me but this time he's gone too far. Ex: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I've gone too far.
