When something is stated to be "clear-cut," it means that it is obvious, distinct, easy to define or understand. Thus, we can understand that although Vlad Guer Jr. would have been a clear-cut (obvious) MVP any other year, he was beat out by Shohei Otani. Ex: The politician was the clear-cut preferred choice of the public. Ex: It's not a clear-cut race. We have yet to see who is the winner.
