Can I say "longing for" or "wanting" instead of "craving"?

Out of those two, "longing for" is the closest to "craving" in this scene! It has the nuance of wanting a certain taste or desire of something but is also dramatic enough within the context of this scene. "Wanting" would work instead of "craving" in more general contexts. Other words you could use are "yearning" or "desiring." They're also slightly dramatic. Ex: I've been craving the taste of revenge. = I've been longing for the taste of revenge. => dramatic Ex: I'm craving ice cream. = I really want ice cream. => general Ex: I'm yearning for my bed. I'm so tired. => dramatic
