student asking question

In our country, we often use the word "bezel" to describe the four edges of the phone. But does "border" sound natural, and "bezel" sound awkward?

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

Not necessarily. Bezel is used to describe all parts of the front of a smartphone or tablet that don't include the display, and borders basically refers to the same thing. "Borders" or "frame" are more commonly used by native speakers as "bezels" is more of a technical term. It isn't a matter of whether one sounds more natural, but rather, of which is more commonly used. Ex: The borders of the frame are incredibly narrow, allowing for a larger display screen. Ex: More and more smart-phones are becoming bezel-less.
