A government contractor is a person or company (either for profit or non-profit) that produces goods or services under contract for the government. Essentially, it's a person or company who is hired by the government to do something, but which is not considered to be a government employee. Ex: Lockheed Martin and Boeing are some of the US government's biggest contractors. Ex: My company is a US government contractor that produces office supplies.
