Why's "may" come at the beginning of a sentence? Is this sentence a question?

This sentence isn't a question, but sometimes "may" is used to express a wish or a hope. So here she's wishing good things for their future together. This is common phrasing for a special event, ceremony, or celebration of some kind. Ex: May you have a great year ahead of you. => birthday wish Ex: May he rest in peace. => at a funeral Ex: May you each have a happy life together.
