student asking question

I've been curious if there's a difference between "wake up" and "get up", is there?

There is a difference! One can wake up and still not get up. If you "wake up," you stop sleeping and probably open your eyes. To "get up" is to get off or out of your bed or chair, physically stand up, and maybe start doing things. Sometimes they're used interchangeably to mean the action of "getting up". Ex: I woke up at eight am in the morning, but I only got up at 12 pm. Ex: I'm setting my alarm to wake me up early tomorrow. Ex: I woke up late today. = I got up late today.
