Kind of, yeah! "Give me mercy" can have a slightly more dramatic tone to it. I'd say it's more along the lines of 'don't be harsh or demanding.' It's more of a gentle request. Ex: Please, give me mercy for the wrong I have done. Ex: Go easy on me. I haven't run in a while, coach.
