Is "tryouts" always used with "s" at the end? Can it be used just as "tryout?"

"Tryouts" is the plural version of "tryout". You can use both of these depending on the actual event. If there are multiple 'tests/trials', or it runs over multiple days, then we use the plural (with 's'), but when it is just a single 'trial/test', we use the singular "tryout" Ex: Hartford's new professional soccer team is holding open tryouts as it fills out the roster. Ex: Neither kicker has appeared in an NFL game, but both have had tryouts with NFL teams.
