What does "sidetracked" mean? How to use the word?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

"Sidetracked" means to become distracted or to lose focus from something you were focusing on before. You can use this word whenever you are distracted away from a task that you should be focusing on. Ex: I need to finish my homework but I keep getting sidetracked from messages on my phone. Ex: I got sidetracked during the interview and started telling stories. Ex: Sorry I'm late, I got sidetracked.
