Kiwi asks…

When can I use "I'm here for?" I hear this quite often.

Answer from a Native speaker

Rebecca

You can use "I'm here for [something/someone]" when you're going somewhere for a specific purpose or reason. It's useful when you're going somewhere, and you need to specify to someone what you're doing there so they can show you where to go or help you out. It also works in relation to time frames. To indicate how long you're going to be somewhere. Ex: I'm here for a couple of weeks, and then heading to Paris. Ex: I'm here for the graduation ceremony. Ex: He's here for the painting. = He's come to pick up the painting.
