Kiwi asks…

What's "mutual" mean here?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

Mutual here most likely refers to the question of whether the interaction was wanted by both parties. Did they both participate in it willingly (mutually), and was it a positive interaction? If someone says the interaction was not mutual, it means that it was one-sided, in either intention or participation. Ex: The feeling was not mutual. I did not want to be there. Ex: It was a positive, mutual conversation.
