Perhaps if you were talking about it metaphorically, then you could. But otherwise, it's not a common term in real life, since all humans are form this planet, Earth! Ex: Moving felt like I had left my homeworld and found myself on a whole new planet. => metaphorically Ex: This is our world, so we have to take care of it.
