Unlike a name or title, is it not necessary to use capitalized letters for the name of currency? (like dollars, German mark or Japanese yen)

That’s correct! The currency itself doesn’t need to be capitalized, but the country name itself should be capitalized. Ex: The U.S. dollar is stable. Ex: I sold American dollars to receive some Japanese yen.
