Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

These two expressions have the same meaning, however "is/has no relation to" is a little more formal in feeling. The speaker could have used either expression to indicate that Nate Dogg is not related (not a family member of; not associated with) Snoop Dogg, who has a similar stage name. Ex: A: My name is Stephanie Grande. B: Are you related to Ariana Grande? A: No relation whatsoever. Ex: I have the same last name as Ariana Grande, but we're not related.
