"Helicopter parents" is a term used to refer to parents who are overly protective or involved in their children's lives. Like helicopters, they "hover" overhead, overseeing everything in their children's lives - especially in regards to their education. Ex: The little boy had helicopter parents who didn't even let him play with the other kids in his class. Ex: Helicopter parents can detrimentally affect their children's social lives and self-esteem.
