"Getting the wind knocked out of you" hace referencia a cuando nos golpean en la espalda o en el estómago tan fuerte que te dejan sin respiración. Cuando te golpean de esta manera, el diafragma empieza a dar unos espasmos que no te permiten respirar. La sensación que se tiene es que te han dejado inconsciente (knocked out). Ej: "She got the wind knocked out of her when the soccer ball hit her stomach." (Se quedó sin respiración cuando el balón de fútbol le dio en el estómago.) Ej: "He fell on his back and got the wind knocked out of him." (Se cayó de espaldas y se quedó sin respiración.)
