"To flub" significa "estropear", "arruinar" o "llevar a cabo una tarea muy mal". Es una palabra de registro informal y no se utiliza a menudo. Sin embargo, es habitual utilizarla cuando se habla sobre juegos o actuaciones. Ej: "The basketball player flubbed the shot and they lost the game." (El jugador de fútbol metió la pata en el tiro y perdieron el partido.) Ej: "The actor's stage fright made him flub his lines." (El miedo escénico que sufre el actor hizo que la pifiara al interpretar su parte.)
