You're right, it might sound more natural to say "magical" than "magic calm!" But from what I can understand, is that either something or someone, a promise of luxury or someone near to them made them feel a "calmness" that was magical. So that feeling is described as "magic." Ex: When we went camping, there was a magic calm at sunrise. Ex: The sunrise feels magical!
