student asking question

Just curiosity, but does the word "haven" is originated from "heaven? Is it called a "haven" because it is as safe as heaven?

I don't believe so. Although the definitions are similar, "heaven" and "haven" do not appear to derive from one another. You may already know this, but "heaven" is a place in Christian mythology where a person's soul can go after they die. A "haven" is a safe place or sanctuary where a person can go if they are in danger. Ex: She's in heaven now, watching over us. Ex: Heaven and hell are two very different places for the afterlife. Ex: This sanctuary is a haven for abused animals. Ex: This library is my personal haven.
