Is the word "poop" only used by children or to children?

"Poop" and "poo" are both used by children and when speaking to children. Adults may sometimes use the word "poop," but almost never use the word "poo" in conversation unless it's to a child. Ex: My child poops twice a day. Ex: Most adults will say, "I will go to the restroom" instead of "poo."
