Great question. "Trust" is used to talk about reliability, truth, or ability of a thing or person. When you fully believe in that someone's words or actions, can be relied on, then you can use the word "trust." Ex: I should never have trusted her. "Believe" is more about accepting that something is true, especially without proof. Ex: The teacher believed his story about his dog eating his homework. It is possible to "believe" someone or something but not "trust" them or it. In simple terms, you "trust" someone meaning that you rely on them and want to believe in their abilities, attitude, etc. While, you "believe" someone/something meaning whether that particular thing is true. in this case she wants to believe that her heart or love will be continue no matter the distance between her and the person she loves, but she has no proof of that so she cannot trust it. She just wants to think it is true.
