What's the difference between "carriage" and "chariot"? Do they have different usage?

Chariots and carriages are similar, however the former are two-wheeled, horse-drawn vehicles that were used nearly a thousand years ago for things like warfare. Carriages generally have four wheels and are also drawn by horses, but are mostly used for leisure (such as carriage rides). In current times, you will almost always use the term "carriage" to refer to a horse-drawn vehicle. Note that carriage may also be used to refer to individual cars in trains. Ex: When we visited New York City, we noticed many tourists taking carriage rides. Ex: An ancient Greek legend says that Apollo harnessed four legendary horses to his golden chariot to pull the sun across the sky every day.
