What is the difference between "corn" and "maize"?

In North America, corn and maize are essentially referring to the same thing! These two both refer to the same thing, a plant that produces kernels (seeds) and is used to make food products. "Maize" originates from the indigenous Mexican word "Mahiz" and is sometimes used as a substitute for "corn". Outside of North America, however, corn is also used to refer to other crops like barley, wheat, millet, and oats - not just maize! Thus, cultural context is also important. This TV series is American, so you can assume that the "Immortal Maize Walker" referred to in this video means corn.
