What's "end up" mean? Is it different from just saying "end?"

To "end up" means to reach, come to, or result in a place, situation, or condition (usually one that was not planned or expected). In this video, "it ends up the same way every time" can be understood to mean that every time, the result is the same. Ex: I ended up quitting school during the pandemic.
