"Do you mind" is an informal expression used to ask for a favor from someone, or to ask if they agree or have any objections to a suggestion. The "do" or "do you" at the beginning of the expression is sometimes omitted, and it is always followed by an -ing word after. Ex: Do you mind getting me a glass a water? Ex: (Do you) mind closing the door for me?
