If someone is "vegan," the noun, it means they don't consume foods derived from animal products. Including egg and dairy products! It also suggests that they don't use other animal products such as leather. It can also be used as an adjective, as it is here. Ex: I've been a vegan for four years now. It's difficult to maintain this diet when I'm traveling. Ex: I saw a vegan purse online that I want to buy.
