Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

"Uh-oh" is said when there is a moment of negative realization, alarm, dismay, or difficulty. Like when something goes wrong or not according to plan. But it's kind of like a slow realization as if it's too late to fix or change. Ex: Uh-oh... I accidentally sent the embarrassing photo to all my contacts. Ex: Uh-oh. I think I left the heater on in the house. Ex: I'm ready to present my project to the class. Uh-oh... I think I left it at home.
