What's the difference between just saying "until" and "up until?"

"Up until" describes someone doing something to a particular point in time. It has a specific time frame. Whereas "until" could be a less specific time point. "Up until" also places more emphasis on what comes after it. Ex: She was there until late at night. Ex: She was there up until dawn. Ex: Up until the show, I didn't know she liked singing. Ex: I'll be at the cafe until the show starts.
