Would it sound awkward if I say a "common goal" instead of a "common vision?"

It wouldn't sound awkward, no! It might just have a slightly different context. A "vision" is usually bigger and can be applied to many goals, but a "goal" is usually more practical, action-orientated, and has an end result. Ex: Jane and I have a common goal of getting our work in the national exhibition this year. Ex: Many people in the organization share the common vision of getting justice for those who are disadvantaged.
