What's "try out" mean? What's the difference from just saying "try?"

To "try out" is to test something new or different to see whether it is suitable or pleasing. There is no difference between "try" and "try out" in the immediate context, however, "try out" can also mean an experimental performance or demonstration of athletes, actors, etc. Ex: I want to try out Chinese food on my holiday. Ex: It's always a fun experience when I try out various restaurants along with my friends.
