I'd seen the word "bid" on eBay, but what does bid mean? Could you give me some examples?

"Bid" as a noun is an offer of money, usually at an auction either online, like eBay, or physically. As a verb, one can "bid" an offer of money and compete against other people. And someone who "bids" at an auction is called a "bidder!" Ex: I bid against 10 other people for the house. Ex: I put down my bid of 50 dollars on the painting. Ex: The highest bidder won in the end. Ex: The opening bid was 100 dollars. Ex: What are you going to bid?
