Kiwi asks…

What's the difference between "attic" and "hayloft"?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

A hayloft is a space above a barn, stable, or cow shed that is used to store hay. Similarly, an attic is also an elevated space or room above the roof of a building, but not necessarily in a barn or farming-related building. Many old houses have attics, for example, and can be used to store things like old furniture or clothing. Ex: The attic in my house is dark and creepy, so I dislike going up there. Ex: The hayloft is quite warm and cozy, so we often find small critters like mice up there.
