Can I put "as" before "a hero" in this sentence?

No, "as" wouldn't fit here. That's because "consider" implies thinking something and maybe not actually being it, so a comparative isn't needed. If you did want to compare, "like" would be better suited here to compare two things. Ex: Do you consider yourself a professional artist? Ex: She acts like a hero whenever she wants. Ex: He's not as much of a hero as I am!
