Kiwi asks…

What does "bring me out the dark" mean? Does it mean bring me from the dark?

Answer from a Native speaker

Rebecca

"Bring me out the dark" is short for "bring me out of the dark", which can have three different meanings. -The first meaning of "the dark" is quite literal, and could simply refer to a place with very little or no light. -The second meaning of "the dark" is a bit more abstract and could refer to a difficult time/situation in someone's life or even something like depression (ex: It was a very difficult time in my life, but my friends helped to bring me out of the dark). -The third meaning of "the dark" could refer to being ignorant or not being aware of what is really happening (like the phrase "keep me in the dark"). Ex: He brought me out of the dark and showed me how beautiful the world really was. Ex: I didn't understand the world very well until I went to university. It really helped to bring me out of the dark.
