Kiwi asks…

What is the usage of "over" here? Could you give me some example sentences using "over" as this?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

"Over" has many different meanings and has to be defined on a case-by-case basis. "Over" in this sentence refers to a cause of interest, worry, discussion, etc. It means connected with or about something. When this woman says, "It doesn't take into account the woman's right to decide over her own body in any way," she means that the anti-abortion laws are not connected with women's rights; these laws are against women's rights in Poland. Ex: They were arguing over where to go for lunch. Ex: The courts are still deciding over who gets custody of the kids.
