What's the main difference between an "explosion" and an "eruption?"

The difference is that an "eruption" happens when something overflows, bursts, or is ejected violently. Whereas if something "explodes," it has to do with the gases, chemicals, and temperatures that interact with each other. It's similar to something "blowing up." Ex: One of the buildings exploded as it was housing different gases and got too hot. Ex: Did you hear the explosion last night? Ex: Did you hear about the volcano erupting? EX: The pipes in my house erupted, and water went everywhere.
