"Go off" is a phrasal verb meaning an alarm to sound. It also means for a bomb to explode or gun to fire, or something similar. Ex: The fire alarm went off, so we all evacuated the building. Ex: The bombs won't go off because they're fake. Ex: Your morning alarm is going off.
