student asking question

Just curious, do people say "cab" or "taxi" as they prefer? Or is there a difference in meaning?

There isn't really a difference between the two! Both are used quite commonly, as "taxi" and "cab" are both derived from the word "taxicab!" Ex: I called a taxi because I was late to work. Ex: A cab splashed me with water as it drove past.
