Not quite! Here "comprehend" means "understand." So if you "comprehend" something, you understand it completely. Ex: When I look at pictures of space, I struggle to comprehend that they're real! Ex: I can't comprehend what you're saying. Ex: The class could comprehend the theme of the art exhibition, but they weren't interested in the art.
