student asking question

I know that the word "deprive" means to forbid someone to do something. However, I don't know how to apply the word to a sentence. Could you give me some examples?

Sure thing! While "deprive" means to forbid someone or something, it can also mean to take away something from someone or to have no more of it. Ex: I've been deprived of sleep ever since exams started. Ex: My parents deprived me of cake when I was younger. They said it wasn't good for me. Ex: Spending time with your boyfriend all day deprives me of spending time with you! Ex: I have been deprived of hope ever since I got my exam results back. Ex: You're depriving me of my favourite chocolate? But how come? Ex: We often deprive people of basic skills when we tell them something, but not how to do it.
